Nan Chao (b. 1977, Tianjin, China)

 

He graduated at the Academy of Arts & Design, Tsinghua University in 2000. He worked as lecturer at Academy of Fine Arts, Jilin College of Arts since 2002, and founded his arts studio in Beijing in 2005. Currently he is an art advisor in International Contemporary Arts Research Center since 2013.

Nan Chao’s work is not a mere visual representation of the zeitgeist. He has blended the Shan Shui elements into his modern work in order to juxtapose rebelliousness and harmony. He challenges the audience by shocking them with his wild and fearless visuals while preserving the discreet and implicit oriental beauty.
